Browser Extension

Setup guide
  1. Download the .zip file and unzip it to a permanent folder (e.g. ~/CySense or C:\CySense) — do not delete this folder after installation.
  2. Open Chrome (or Edge / Brave) and navigate to chrome://extensions.
  3. Enable Developer Mode using the toggle in the top-right corner.
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the folder you unzipped in step 1.
  5. The CySense Shield icon will appear in your toolbar. Pin it for quick access.

Works in Chrome 88+, Edge 88+, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers. Firefox is not currently supported.

Desktop App

Endpoint monitoring and device enrollment. Enroll this device to your organization.

Setup guide

Your Organization ID (needed during setup): —

  1. macOS: Open the .dmg, drag CySense Shield to Applications, then launch it from Launchpad or Spotlight.
  2. Windows: Run the .msi installer and follow the prompts. If deploying via Intune, your IT admin will pre-configure the Organization ID — no manual entry needed.
  3. Linux: Install with sudo dpkg -i cysense-shield-desktop-linux.deb, then launch from your applications menu or run cysense-shield.
  4. On first launch, if prompted for an Organization ID, enter the value shown above and click Pair. The app will register this device and begin monitoring.

Enterprise MDM users (Jamf / Intune / Ansible): your administrator deploys the Organization ID automatically — no manual pairing needed.

Outlook Add-in

Scan the open email for phishing and BEC directly from Outlook.

Get manifest
Setup guide
  1. Click Get manifest above and save the manifest.xml file.
  2. In Outlook desktop, click Get Add-ins (Home ribbon → Add-ins group).
  3. Select My add-ins in the left sidebar, then click Add from File… at the bottom.
  4. Select the downloaded manifest.xml and click Install.
  5. The CySense Shield button will appear in the Outlook ribbon when viewing any email.

Works in Outlook 2016+ (desktop) and Outlook on the web. Enterprise deployment via Microsoft 365 admin center is recommended for team-wide rollout.

Thunderbird Add-in

Scan the open email for phishing and BEC directly from Thunderbird.

Setup guide
  1. Download the .xpi file (do not unzip it).
  2. In Thunderbird, open the Menu (☰) → Add-ons and Themes.
  3. Click the gear icon ⚙ and choose Install Add-on From File…
  4. Select the downloaded .xpi and click Add to confirm.
  5. A Scan with CySense Shield button will appear in the message toolbar.

Compatible with Thunderbird 102 and later.
